Lapo Lani
Urban planner, architect, artist.
Born in Cesena, Italy, in 1968 and graduated at Florence, Lapo Lani currently resides and works in Milan.
Since 1996, Lani has participated in architectural and design competitions, on both a national and an international level, from which he has gained recognition and special honours.
Since 1998, his projects have been exposed in numerous exhibitions in Italy and abroad.
In 2000 he began to collaborate with the contemporary art gallery Marsilio Margiacchi, at which he continues to exhibit in personal and collective shows.
Since 2003, he became a design/project consultant for the international company BTicino, for which he has designed interiors (showrooms, concept stores and offices) both in Italy and abroad, and he has restored part of the company’s historical industrial buildings.
Since 2005, he has designed home automation and automation systems for living spaces, offices, showrooms and concept spaces, often integrated with temporary furniture or installations.
Starting from the same year, he began to collaborate as a design consultant with Italian and international companies - Assa Abloy, Yale, Litto, Eff Eff, Tonic Line, Collstrop, Legrand, Vantage, Mirabello Carrara -, for which he has designed offices and showrooms.
In 2009, he began the collaboration with the Polytechnic of Milan (INDACO Department) about the new housing and therapeutic models for Alzheimer’s patients.
In 2010, with the Professor Alessandro Biamonti and the Doctor Ivo Cilesi, he founded the research group “Therapeutic Habitat”, with which experiments, designs and manufactures systems and Alzheimer's therapeutic devices. In this context, in the same year, "Therapeutic Train" has been designed and manufactured.
Since 2016, he is periodically invited by the most prestigious Japanese universities of architecture, art and design to direct seminars and research laboratories on the theme of man and contemporary architecture in the era of technology.
Since 1996, the collaboration with the University of Architecture of Florence and the Polytechnic of Milan has remained constant.
