Revalorisation d’un bâtiment Jean Prouvé
A revival of an architectural gem conceived in the 1970s by architects Jean-Claude Jallat and Michel Proux, in collaboration with designer-engineer Jean Prouvé.
Located on the Quai de Grenelle (Paris 15 th arrondissement), at the heart of the visionary Front de Seine masterplan of the 1960s–1970s, the Orion building embodies a pioneering era in Parisian modernity.
More than a renovation, restoration, or rehabilitation, our approach seeks to reveal and amplify the building’s intrinsic brilliance while bringing it into dialogue with contemporary and future uses. Our objective: recover its original clarity, coherence, and spatial intelligence.
Following an in-depth heritage audit, we established a detailed inventory distinguishing the elements to preserve, those to restore, and those to adapt or transform to meet contemporary standards and regulatory requirements.
At ground level, the façades are redesigned to reassert their original openness and transparency, reinstating the suspended and levitating effect of the upper volumes.
In the upper levels, we enhance the plan’s rationality and spatial freedom, liberating floor, ceiling, and façade. This transformation is made possible by the Jean Prouvé metal ribbon, which is restored to its initial form, function, and expressive power, and reinforced thermally to meet contemporary standards.
