Philippe Rizzotti Architecte
Co-founder of the collective EXYZT in 2003, association he chairs until 2009, he takes part in the design and construction of numerous inhabited installations from “Architecture du Rab”, a collective final school project in the Parc de la Villette, to Metavilla, the French pavilion of the Venice Biennale in 2006 done with Patrick Bouchain.
Between 2007 and 2009, Philippe lives and works in the United States and Brazil where he develops, with Coloco and Marcos Da Silva, the Momento Monumento project, a transformation of an abandoned tower in the center of Sao Paulo into a social and cultural laboratory for the year of France in Brazil. He regularly works on the themes of the architecture of emergency or the renewal of neglected spaces. The research and development of solutions for the construction of economical and autonomous housing are the base of his architectural approach.
Invited to collaborate with Yona Friedman to imagine his first major retrospective at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Budapest, he creates Philippe Rizzotti Architecture in Paris in 2010, the year he won the international competition Parcosolar with the Vertical Village project. This project received the Bronze medal at the Holcim Awards for Sustainable Construction in 2011.
In 2012, Philippe Rizzotti is the winner of the Albums of de la Jeune Architecture, a prize awarded by the Ministry of Culture. In 2013, the company is selected for two competitions, that will be won: the Technical Center for Gardeners of the Jean-Jacques Rousseau park in Ermenonville (classified as a historic monument), and the “Musée Passager”, a mobile contemporary art exhibition pavilion for the Ile-de-France Region, delivered in the spring of 2014, at the same time as the Factatory (workshops of mobile artists) which will be nominated for the Prix de la Première Oeuvre.
