What Our Readers Say about Us
In 2018 we ran the risk of bankruptcy. The costs of managing a database with millions of images grew exponentially day by day, becoming unfeasible. We were suffocated by too much information and unable to handle it any longer. Apart from economic issues, we began to wonder if that supply of information that grew by hundreds of new projects each day actually made sense. It seemed useless, because after all the same projects we posted could easily be located elsewhere, especially on the social networks. We felt the need to take a break and think it over. In December 2018, with forewarning of only three weeks, we pulled the plug. After nearly 20 years of activity, our site was no longer on line.
At that point something unexpected happened. We began to get email messages from our readers, dozens every day, all expressing affection and nearly all including the same request: “come back.” So we realized all our work had not been done in vain. And thanks to our loyal readership (and their ongoing support) In June 2019 we turned our servers back on.
We have posted a selection of these email messages here. With just one exception, they arrived just a few hours after the announcement of our closing. These are the first 50 out of over 1000 email messages of encouragement and esteem we received during the months when we remained offline. Thanks to these messages, we have found the stimulus and energy to begin again.
Heartfelt thanks to all!
Lloyd Marcus Andresen and Tommaso Passi
A very late thank you Divisare
We really appreciated your work. Divisare brought a lot of inspiration and mediated architecture in a intelligent manner. We hope your next project will bring further the energy and enthusiasm that Divisare contained.
Reiulf Ramstad
I've just read the fact that the website divisare.com will desappear. For me it's a big lose... I discovered your website when I was an architect student and I daily use it since for my job. So thank you for the quality of your work and I wish you the best.

Just wanted to thank you for the amazing work put on this website, it has been an incredible tool with so many ways of finding references and new inspiration. I was just wondering if the closing is for financial issues I'm sure if you guys open a donation or subscription for using the website a lot of people will support you, all of my colleagues uses you as one of the first pages to check on other projects.
I'm sure its not a new idea, but just to reinforce the feeling if there was a doubt about it.
If there's other reasons then I cannot make an statement about it.
It has been a pleasure and good luck !!
All my best,
Cristina.
I’m really sorry to see that you will be closing. You have been a source of inspiration to both my team at Valentino Architects, and I personally, for a while now. We would like to ask if your atlas or architecture is going to remain available in any way, perhaps in the form of an archive. Even if this will not continue to be an updated atlas, it may continue to offer numerous worthy case studies for researchers and architects like us. Thank you for your time, and thank you for dedication in keeping Divisare going in the recent years – it will be missed!
Best wishes from Malta,
Ella Fleri Soler
It was also with great sorrow that I took notice of your closure. Your website was very interesting, nicely designed, easy to move around and find references and ideas, all this with great content quality and no advertisement.
Thank you for your work, Grazie, addio e auguri per il futuro!
Valérie Cina
I just wanted to tell you that I’m very sad your website is closing. You were the best and by far! Good luck with your next adventure!

Thalia Chrousos
Thanks for everything that you have done; you have been a reliable source of exciting work, tastefully presented.
You will be missed.

I am a architecture student, and i write you, really sadly, knowing that your website will close… Every one of my projects that I’ve made in 6 years of architecture have been succeed thanks to your website, it inspired me every time, the projects selected are all perfects. I have 1 year and half of studies to do more, I don’t know where I’ll find my references now, but, thank you for all the past ones you gave me.
I wish you a lot of success,
Anne, one of your favorite readers
First of all : Thanks you!
Divisare was part of my daily routine and I am going to miss it.
(Cup of coffee, Divisare, Design)
I am really grateful for all these years of great architecture beautifully curated.
Are you guys also shutting down the Atlas of Architecture?
Do you know if there is anyone who is going to be taking this outstanding work of yours and keep it alive somewhere else?
Best,
Mauricio
Really important: Don'tttttttttttttt gooooooooooo pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
María Brunet Expósito
Only say, all the best - great it has been !
best wishes
Chris
Divisare is the best collection of projects (online or anywhere else). It's also the best organized collection -- your tagging has made search/exploration a delight. I will really miss the website.
I know you have made your decision, but I hope that the possibility of a subscription service has been discussed... This is something I would be happy to pay a fee for, even as a student.
Anyways, thanks for all your work.
Alexander
i'm a big fan of your work..actually who isn't? ) so this is a surprise.i'm not looking for some tabloid sensation but maybe you could shed some light on the topic why the website is closing.and for instance not only freezing in time or something like that )
the atlas is beyond awesome.loosing it is like burning down your own library..or like being dumped by a girlfriend )
but as you wrote on the goodbye page something ends just that something else could start.looking forward!
good luck and always enjoy what you are doing.you are great at it.
best
juraj
Divisare will close on 15 December, but you will create a new site of the same genre? Divisare is an important means of referencing. Please don`t close!
Jo
I am truly sorry to hear you will be closing. You are by far the best architecture website on the web and will be missed.
Daniela Bustamante
Merci de tout ce que vous nous avez offert.
J’espère pour vous, bonne route
David Vial
This is such sad news! Your site and books are the most helpful and enjoyable among all architectural resources. Does this mean your site and all the resources are closing as well? Including atlas of architecture?
Madsen
It was so sad to hear that Divisare is leaving. It is my favorite architectural website of all time. And I am so sorry that there's nothing I can help with. I hope you good luck with your next project, and please let me know whatever you will be doing next.
Goodbye, and good luck.
Xinmei Li
thank you so much for existing and for all the energy and work you put in my favorite website for such a long time!
i don’t know what could fill the gap of architectural inspiration and atlas-based research. have a great start and success with all your upcoming projects and ideas.
Thanks!
Malte
Grazie per tutta la pazienza, la dedizione, l'attenzione e l'amore che avete messo in questo sito che passo passo mi ha seguito nella mia carriera architettonica universitaria.
Amina
Since I read you note about the end of Divisare last night I feel sad. I have been using Divisare since a long time and it is the best site ever made for architect, especially with the atlas ! I use almost everyday for inspiration, its like a breath out of my work. Could you tell me more infos on why you are closing ? And what are the upcoming projects ? Something like Divisare? Hope you will have this message and time to read it
Balthazar Camus
Shock and Horror.
I must say I am so saddened by the news I saw on Divisare this morning. You may think I am exaggerating, but ever since I came across this site it has been a near daily source of exploration and inspiration. The site stands/stood tall above its near rivals of archdaily, dezeen etc and even the paper based media sources that had an online presence. May I ask why you have taken this step, there is so much here that has been built up, why? I hope it is not because you were forced to this step? Again I reiterate that I applaud all of your efforts and endeavours in shifting architectural discourse, it was appreciated. I look forward to hearing from you.
Josh F
To add, I would also say that I would be happy to pay a subscription to retain access. Just too good to lose.
Sad news, good luck.
You have an amazing project....the best architectural magazine online for sure...
Wish you the best. Thanks...
Best regards
Miguel Gomes
Quick question as a huge fan of divisare, will the site still be able to be accesed as an archived state ? I would hate to see all that information gone.
thanks
Anton
Very sad to hear the news--I've been checking Divisare (for daydreaming purposes) every single day for, well, years now.
You'll leave a big hole [come on, you're architects, I'm sure you can fill it!]
Please keep me posted, and best of luck withwhatever adventure you embark on next.
Mostly, thankyou
Why ?
Frans Drewniak
Noooooooooooooo!
Don't Close! Do you think a school would want to purchase? Will the archive/atlas remain available?
Nile
Per favore!! Nooooooooo
Now for real, please, why closing the best website of the internet? Just leave it as it is and never touch it again if you will…it would still be better than all of the others…I’m serious, as an architecture student, Divisare is too importante to close…please…
What will be the alternative…oh my god…the atlas is so important…my heart is broken ☹ what’s happening….why closing?
Sad sad saluti,
From Trastevere 3
(please don’t go)
Joana
Whyy?!
You will always be the best architecture site! That spirit of only architecture without ads or naif articles. Wish you the best.
Guido
Why guys, whyyyyy.
Goodbye to the Divisare team, you have provided us with such an atlas of amazing architecture. What an archive, its almost heartbreaking. Thank you, thank you, thank you
Khalisah Burhanudin
We run a boutique office in Los Angeles and we wanted to thank you for many years of continuous inspiration. Your website constituted easily 80% of all our on-line references.
We hope you are up to new adventures and to hear from you soon in another form or shape.
Divisare will be missed!
Donatella Cusma'
I discovered the sad new about the end of the divisare website. It's really sad ! Your website is a real usefull tool for my architect job.
Anyway thank you for all your work and hope that you will develop soon something about architecture again.
Wish you the best.
Manon Petitjean
Congratulations and (a sincere) Thank-you for your efforts in curating what is one of my favourite architecture websites.
I was sad to hear of its impending closure but understand - that due to the time and energy that this project must require - that it would not be an infinite resource.
As a lecturer I have always asked that my students refer to the Atlas of Architecture for online precedents instead of Arch Daily, Dezeen, Yellowtrace et al. which do not have the same level of curatorial rigour.
On this note I do kindly ask whether there is ANY chance that the Atlas of Architecture can/will be archived with accessibility for future use?
Wishing you all the best in your future efforts,
Brett Mitchell
I am truly sorry to see you leave. I've been following your page for some years, since the europaconcorsi days (I must've found out about you around 2011 or 2012).
You have been one of my favorite sites for the last few years -- alongside with afasia, the only website I opened every single day -- and I always looked forward to opening the site every morning when I got to work. Every new project you published has been an opportunity to learn something, and your atlas, perfectly organized, brought references for each project on which I have worked.
The news of the closing of the site brought me a sad feeling, just like when 2G decided they were going to stop publishing their paper magazine.
I imagine that if you are stopping the site, you must feel you have done everything you could with it, and you wish to pursue different things. I would like nonetheless to know if you have tried to keep an online version of the site as an archive -- maybe someone big like wikipedia could do it for free?
I hope to hear from you people soon (who are you?) and wish the best of luck on your future endeavors.
Thank you for all these years of discoveries and wonder.
Yours truly,
Victor Tsu
Will Divisare remain online as a reference or archive? Some of the works on the website are absolutely beautiful. I recently discovered Divisare and I am sad to see it go. I have purchased a few books.
Thank you,
Cameron Poe
what a pity! I loved this website. Anyway, good luck for your future projects and goals.
Michelangelo Porta
so sad - thank you for ALL the Inspiration!!
Niels Roskamp
Really sorry to hear that you're going to close down. You have been a fantastic source of inspiration and reference for many projects I have worked on, with first class photography and a great website to view it all on. Feel like you need a closing event, something to celebrate all that you ave brought to the world of Architecture… I’m a creative direction at a Live Events and Activation company - if you ever feel like you want to do something like this then lets speak. Maybe a gallery event at the Tate Modern? Anyway, very sad to see you go but I guess all GREAT things must someday come to an end. Thank you for everything… I will wait excitedly for the last order of books ive just completed.
Best - Paul.
Buongiorno,
Nicola Rovere
I am incredibly sad to hear the divisare website will be closing! This was truly the most inspirational site to visit and for the past few years I looked forward to starting my day checking which projects had been featured that week. The divisare team has always communicated architecture in such a pure and crisp aesthetic and I will miss it immensely – Your team should be so proud for what you have accomplished as I know it was an inspiration for so many - I look forward to seeing what developments are next.
Best regards,
Stephanie
Thank you for all the good and help you did to all architects including me!
best
Piotr
I discovered Divisare a couple of years ago and it has been the best most awesome architecture and interiors website or resource I’ve ever seen. I have adored Divisare - even though I struggle to pronounce the word smoothly. I want to say a very sincere thank you for the website, and I am so very sad to say goodbye , and wish you heaps good luck and joy w yr next project. Thanks from far away in the Pacific Ocean!
Lydia
why are you closing after a solid website and photo journal ideas? It is not possible to ask for a crow founding?
Daniele Ronca
Fabio
Thank you for all the work you’ ve down, it’s such a pity to see Divisar closing! Is there any possibility to know what is going on after that ? Or maybe to subscribe to your newsletter if there is something new ?
Anyway, thanks a lot for those past years!
SD
I started studying architecture in 2007 and I started get inspirations for my first ideas on Europaconcorsi. One day it became Divisare, in my opinion the best platform for architecture online research. Well organised, great topics, good images, no annoying advert popping up. Architecture will miss a great blog. The best one.
Thanks for all the hard work and good luck for your future!
Best,
Gabriel Spera
So sad to learn that you will close the website on december 15th! I live in Paris and I am interior architect. Every morning, I went to your site to find inspirations. Thereby, I’ve a lot a project on file in my « Collections » ! Is there any solution for me to save all this inspirations ?
Thank you very much !
Thomas
I am very sad to find out Divisare is closing, the website has been an enormous source of inspiration for me and my colleagues and represents by far the best online architecture archive. Would the contents remain available or is the whole site due to be closed?
Are you planning to start a similar new platform? I have always found Divisare's project categories (Atlas of Architecture) extremely useful and a unique example of web fruition in architecture. Thanks and best of luck for your future plans.
Kind Regards,
Francesco Bitelli
I am an admirer of your plattform and this was a really big shock for me! ;(
It's really amazing how an architect can navigate at Divisare and find the amazing projects in different ways, with the desired freedom. You don't find this quality anywhere else! Why are you closing? Why don't you just keep the amazing colection you already did with the same format, without adding adding anything else for a while? The digital Architectural Library you created is really one of the bests I have seen and it would be a big shame if you finish with it! Make a break of publishing new stuff but please don't delete the amazing work you did!
I wish you all the best,
João Charters Monteiro
Hi Divisare team,
I don’t need any info. Just wanted to thank you for your work. Your site helped me a lot during my architecture studies. It’s supposed to be my last year now and I feel like everything is coming full circle knowing that I will work on the future on websites and tools for architects, like yours. I feel sad that you had to leave a project that important for our community and beyond. Hope you can take pride of your work and aim for more groundbreaking projects like this one.
Good luck !
Meriem Mimoun
dear divisare, please reconsider your decision! if you put up a fundraiser i'm sure we can finance the website at least. very sad news, love the website and books. All the best from chile
bruno canales contreras
I am very sorry to hear that you are shutting down the website. It was and will be until the 15th the only good website for architecture. You leave us the readers without good alternatives (which should make you proud). I hope this finds you well and wish you the very best going forward. Kind Regards from Kaiserslautern, Germany
Laurenz Schröder
you broke my heart
I discovered today, that Divisare is ending.
It is very sad news for my. Divisare was for my a platform of the best taste in architecture and great source of inspiration for my projects. I hope I see you in some new project on the web soon. Thanks for your great contribution to my virtual architectural trips.
Wish you All the best
Peter
(Actually you should not do this ..... Please!)
WHAT???? with horror I just read your latest email! What happened? Why are you closing? I can only assume that it is too much effort to run a website like yours without charging. But are there no other options? You are – by far – my favourite architecture website. I don't want you to be gone! Is this final? And are you shutting down the website? And what is going to happen with your amazing database?
Sören
Hi, I’m an avid user of Divisare. I’m devastated with the (very sad) news. Isn’t a possibility to let what’s already on the site available for us? Please, I don’t like archdaily, architizer, they are messy and ugly, and you guys are perfect, minimal, a delight to our eyes. Please keep the website on! Sincerely yours,
Elaine Fuson
I have just known that you are going to close. I want to say that this is a really bad new actually, in a world where architecture is spread worldwide on the net without any kind of control and selection of projects. The consequences, as I’m sure you already know, are that even architecture has become a “product”, something to be easily consumed and changed, as if it was a clothe. This is going - even among architects - to make architecture lose its innest meaning of “eternity”, and all its symbolic features. Even schools of architecture aren’t able to give their students a “method” to keep on studying and learning about the best way of making architecture anymore. Your atlas were a real source of inspirations for many of us, no matter the age, and the classification of the categories you did was source of inspiration itself as a very scientific way to look at architecture and its complexity. I don’t want to keep on talking about the importance of your work through all these years. I don’t even want to know the reasons that led you to make such a decision. I just respect this decision, as I imagine how hard and suffered it is.
Just thanks
Daniele Spirito
