Reuben Street Apartments
Reuben Street Apartments is a mixed-used development consisting of 2 retail units and 64 apartments on corner of Reuben Street and Dolphin Barn Street in Dublin City.
The building is proposed as two unequal 'L' shaped blocks taking the scale of the two adjoining streets and stepping up to eight and ten floors at the corner. The bridge between the two forms of the building supports a glass and anodised aluminium screen, which will incorporate a specially commissioned piece of public art. The art piece is intended to be a light based installation, that will change colour in response to varying temperature or perhaps to differently lighting levels during the day and evening.
A mix of one and two bed apartments has been proposed with the majority of units having more than one aspect with access via generous stairs and lift cores.
In general the elevations are proposed to be brick with aluminium windows. The composition of the elevations is designed to reflect the industrial aesthetic of the local area, drawing comparison with the brick industrial buildings of the Guinness complex nearby.
