Moderno Desiderio
Moderno Desiderio is an exhibition design at the Teatro Margherita in Bari, commissioned by the city. Two elemental figures — a cross and a line — are inserted into the rationalist interior of the theatre as freestanding objects, morphologically and chromatically distinct yet proportionally integrated with the existing architecture.
The exhibition design for Moderno Desiderio responds to the rationalist but spatially complex interior of the Teatro Margherita in Bari. Two elements are introduced into the hall: a cross and a line, conceived as objects within an object — actors on the stage of the theatre, recognisable in form and colour yet calibrated to the visual correspondences and proportions of the existing architecture.
In plan, the two display structures take on an essential, almost suprematist formal dimension. In elevation, they claim a more sculptural character. This dual condition — abstract in plan, figurative in section — reinterprets the tension between abstraction and figuration that is intrinsic to the historical and urban identity of consolidated Bari.
