Casa ID
Casa ID is the completion and transformation of an interrupted building in Casamassima, near Bari. The project rethinks an existing structure to meet contemporary living standards without erasing its identity — occupying no new land and working within the consolidated fabric of the town centre.
The clients wanted to live in the centre of Casamassima with the comfort of a contemporary house. The site, in one of the most established areas of the town, made it possible without consuming new land.
The design operates on two principles. The first is the optimisation of interior space: functional and sculptural volumes define the living area, giving shape to domestic life through built-in elements rather than conventional partitions. The second is the dialogue between inside and outside, made legible through the garden and a custom-designed entrance that mediates between the street and the private interior.
The project demonstrates that working within existing structures in small southern Italian towns is not a compromise but a deliberate spatial strategy — one that values what is already there and reshapes it with precision.
