Renovation of a single-storey villa
The project is part of a transformation approach in which the existing structure serves as the starting point for all interventions. It proposes a measured and respectful interior redesign of the 1983 building, aiming to clarify the spatial organization and improve the flow of use; as part of this, the kitchen and bedroom have been swapped.
From the entrance, an opening guides the eye and gradually reveals a perspective across the living spaces.
Open to the living room, the kitchen contributes to the creation of a shared space, encouraging daily interactions and collective use. The enlargement of the living room openings reinforces the sense of spatial continuity between the interior and the outdoors, making light and landscape active components of the project. The bathroom layout is conceived as a gradient of privacy, adapted to a variety of uses and rhythms.
The material palette is based on natural, long-lasting materials. The existing wooden ceilings are preserved and repainted, engaging in dialogue with solid ash and oak joinery that highlight the new interventions within the house. The walls are finished with lime plaster, while the fireplace, redesigned in rammed earth brick, regains a central, structuring role within the living space.
Each intervention aims to reveal the quality of the existing volumes and strengthen the identity of the place.
