Located just outside the historic center of Florence, this apartment is set within an early twentieth-century residential building, where traces of the original domestic character are carefully intertwined with a contemporary architectural language.
The project is conceived around a single, clear design gesture that defines and connects the entire apartment. A distinctive color becomes the guiding element of the space, creating a domestic rhythm that accompanies everyday life and gives identity to each room. Rather than acting as a simple decorative feature, color becomes an architectural tool capable of shaping perception, atmosphere, and continuity throughout the home.
The apartment results from the subdivision of a large family residence into three independent units, a transformation driven by evolving family needs. This process required a complete rethinking of the original layout: spaces were radically reorganized and reinterpreted to respond to contemporary ways of living while preserving the memory and character of the existing home.
The new interior strikes a balance between contemporary design and timeless elements. Custom-made furniture and tailored details, crafted by local artisans, establish a dialogue between tradition and innovation, emphasizing the value of craftsmanship and material authenticity. Every element has been designed to contribute to a coherent spatial narrative, where proportions, textures, and colors interact harmoniously.
Through the careful use of materials, light, and chromatic contrasts, the project transforms the apartment into a vibrant and layered living environment—a space capable of combining intimacy, functionality, and architectural identity while maintaining a strong connection to the cultural atmosphere of Florence.
