PISCINA DE O COUTO
The project emerges on a promontory overlooking the Ferrol estuary, where architecture is absorbed into the slope in order to achieve complete integration with the landscape. By placing the swimming pool at natural ground level and concealing the changing rooms beneath the “beach,” the built volume merges with the hillside, minimizing its impact on archaeologically sensitive ground. The result is a quiet dialogue between geometry and site.
To ensure long-term durability, the project adopts a resolute construction system based on a reinforced concrete structure and prefabricated concrete masonry units. By dispensing with cladding and artificial envelopes, the building embraces a material honesty capable of weathering with dignity under harsh climatic conditions. The design guarantees sustainability and minimal maintenance, turning the passage of time into an added value. Conceived at a human scale and rooted in traditional building logic, it is an architecture intended to endure.
