Primary school
From the fence, a monochromatic yellow-orange path extends over the existing pedestrian walkway in cement tiles, leading to the new plinth in front of the school building entrance. The latter, resized to accommodate the pupils, has been designed to slope down toward the adjacent tree-filled space, embracing some of the trees. The path ends beneath a new canopy, conceived as an extension of the existing small entrance portico, clearly marking the school’s main access.
The pre-existing internal ateliers and micro-places are colour-generating elements, with colour extending from the walls to the floor and up to the ceiling, covering everything it encounters—doors, lamps, skirting boards, railings, and so on. This mechanism of chromatic cladding enhances the sense of space and of “envelopment,” in which the student feels immersed. As one moves through these empty chromatic spaces, the third dimension becomes perceptible, as it is openly manifested and emphasized by the colour that fills the void while maintaining its concavity. The space thus enclosed can be perceived as an environment while still remaining open. Colour therefore becomes the protagonist, generated by the very atelier in which one is immersed. Icons and texts indicating the function of each place further emphasize the use of the atelier. Letters and ideograms are distributed throughout the coloured space as if by subtraction of matter, in order to intensify both the perception and the understanding of the space itself.
