Villa Renovation
Located in a residential neighborhood of Varese, this small villa underwent a renovation aimed at updating the interiors and improving everyday living quality, while preserving selected original elements.
The project involved a reorganization of the internal layout to bring the existing material traces into dialogue with a more restrained architectural language. In the dining area, where the roof structure is left exposed in timber, the stone walls were carefully retained and paired with new, light-toned surfaces. The introduction of steel beams helps articulate the geometry of the roof and clarifies the relationship between the existing fabric and the new insertions.
A recurring theme of the intervention is geometry as an organizing principle: the living-room wall was designed according to a functional layout that structures elements and surfaces, becoming an integral part of the interior fit-out. Material and color choices were guided by a measured contrast between light-toned wood and dark green plaster. The same approach is echoed in the staircase, whose alternating yet regular structure creates a visual and spatial rhythm.
Overall, the renovation establishes a balance between the existing building and contemporary additions, keeping the original character legible while introducing solutions aligned with current living needs.
