Farmhouse
Located near Varese, this traditional farmhouse underwent a renovation aimed at updating the interior spaces while keeping the original layout legible. The project works on the balance between existing fabric and new insertions, relating the building’s rural material character to a more restrained, contemporary language.
The existing stone walls were preserved and enhanced, while the new kitchen introduces stainless-steel surfaces and components, set in contrast with the historic texture of the envelope.
The reconfiguration of the rooms improved usability and continuity between spaces; selected openings were enlarged to increase natural light and strengthen the visual relationship with the surrounding landscape. In particular, the large windows in the living area emphasize the interplay between light and the thickness of the stone masonry.
Overall, the intervention can be read as a respectful update of the building, retaining its defining elements while introducing contemporary solutions in a measured way.
