HALLE DE BOIS D'ARCY
The project is conceived as a protective canopy sheltering a market hall, with a regular timber structure sized to suit stalls and internal circulation. Supported by sandblasted, integrally colored concrete, all timber elements are placed above two meters and protected by the projecting roof. As envisioned in the brief, the hall ensures strong visual and functional continuity between الداخل and exterior, with large openings that facilitate movement while allowing the building to be securely closed.
To the northeast, a multipurpose room has its own access but can also open onto the hall. Designed like a showcase, it faces the public space and benefits from the roof overhang. Natural light is introduced through roof openings above circulation areas and at the back of the multipurpose room. On the west side, technical rooms, waste storage, and sanitary facilities complete the program, with the upper part used for ventilation ducts.
Located in the historic center of Bois-d’Arcy, its material palette draws from the tones of the surrounding old stone walls. Colored and sandblasted concrete, timber frames, and timber cladding create a coherent relationship with the context. Outdoor areas include a forecourt and a landscaped permeable parking area designed to encourage rainwater infiltration, while a rainwater harvesting tank supports irrigation and cleaning. Used weekly as a market hall and occasionally for larger events, the project’s technical design ensures a high degree of flexibility.
