House—14
At the core of the concept lies the idea of breaking the conventional boundaries of domestic space, deliberately dissolving the limit between wall and ceiling. The rounded corner thus becomes both an architectural and poetic gesture: a continuous transition that softens edges and guides the space toward a dimension with undefined, almost suspended contours.
The project stems from the desire to reinterpret, through a contemporary lens, an apartment originally conceived as a traditional five-room layout, transforming it into a spacious and fluid three-room dwelling capable of responding to contemporary living needs.
Sinuous curves and rigorous geometries alternate in a constant dialogue between soft surfaces and sharp material accents. This tension between the organic and the stereometric becomes the main design device, generating a dynamic balance between past and present while enriching the perceptual experience of space.
The heart of the home is the living area, conceived as a large environment dedicated to sharing and conviviality. Here, the rounded corner becomes the defining architectural motif, dissolving the boundary between walls and ceiling and creating a soft, enveloping spatial continuity. The curves are echoed in the design of custom-made furnishings, generating a sense of fluidity interrupted only by brass details and textured inserts that introduce refined contrasts.
The kitchen, intentionally placed at the center of the home, appears as a monolithic island that incorporates a pre-existing structural column, transforming it into a sculptural element. Around this volume unfolds a circular path that enhances the perception of movement and continuity. Sliding doors in brass and ribbed glass allow the space to be modulated, alternating between openness and intimacy.
The large dining table and the discreet bar cabinet—minimal on the outside yet precious within, with mirrored finishes and brass profiles—reinforce the convivial character of the space, introducing a refined interplay between essentiality and surprise.
The herringbone parquet flooring, reinterpreted on a larger scale through the pairing of wooden slats, lends proportion and elegance to the generous living spaces. Light curtains filter the daylight entering through the large tripartite windows, diffusing it softly and contributing to the overall suspended atmosphere.
In the sleeping area, the theme of the rounded corner is reinterpreted and translated into a subtler, more geometric sign: a line running along the perimeter of the rooms, defining the space with greater stereometric rigor. Here the atmosphere becomes intimate and collected, inspired by the idea of an urban forest.
Materials, colors, and decorative elements evoke the tones of earth and foliage. In the master bedroom, a hand-painted wardrobe becomes a unique piece and an artistic gesture that introduces warmth and craftsmanship. The second bedroom, featuring tropical motifs and rattan details, interprets the natural theme in a more playful way while maintaining coherence with the overall language of the home.
From the subdivision of a single long and narrow space emerge two distinct bathrooms, both bright thanks to a careful management of perspectives and natural light.
The master bathroom continues the narrative of the sleeping area, with natural textures and Guatemala green marble that amplifies the connection with the forest-inspired theme. The second bathroom, visible from the living area, adopts a more classical tone: travertine, light moldings, and brushed anthracite fixtures create a conceptual bridge with the living space, combining timeless elegance with contemporary sensitivity.
The entire project is founded on a refined alternation between softness and rigor, memory and innovation. Brass details, recurring throughout the home, evoke a nostalgic yet sophisticated elegance, while site-specific decorations and carefully selected materials construct a coherent and layered narrative.
The result is a home that transcends the physical and conceptual boundaries of traditional space, transforming into a fluid, welcoming, and dynamic environment: a place where classicism and contemporaneity coexist in harmonious balance, expressing a renewed idea of living.
