AR residences
The AR residences are located on the western shore of Lake Garda, in a stretch where the landscape gradually changes, taking on the appearance of a wide fjord nestled between mountain slopes that descend steeply towards the water. In this context, the relationship between natural morphology, built-up areas, and the lake landscape is direct and immediate. The steepest slopes alternate with gentler ones, still marked by the presence of the historic agricultural landscape, in particular the system of lemon groves, an identifying and structuring element of the territory. The project addresses this complexity by taking as its fundamental references both the characteristics of the natural landscape and those of the anthropic settlement. Regulatory constraints, the shape of the lot, the terrain, and protection requirements are integrated with bioclimatic criteria aimed at environmental sustainability and reducing the overall impact of the intervention. The buildings are located in the western part of the plot, in continuity with the most recent urban expansion, and are arranged following the natural contour lines, limiting soil transformation and maintaining the maximum possible distance from the historic center to protect its landscape perception. The residential units are spread over two levels: the living areas, on the upper floor, open onto the lake and the view, while the sleeping areas are located on the lower level. Access is via private staircases, minimizing common areas. The south-facing orientation, the north-facing closure, the overhanging roofs, and the design of the facades with deep screens allow for efficient use of solar energy, ensuring climatic comfort and summer shade.
The sober and rigorous architectural language uses materials such as exposed concrete, glass, and green roofs that interact with the colors, lights, and seasons of the Garda landscape, contributing to a discreet and coherent presence in the context.
