Located at the bottom of a valley of 1,100 inhabitants, near the Svartisen glacier, the eiarn Lodge is a landmark and resting point for hikers and skiers, a beacon at the foot of the glacier, a roof shaped by the surrounding forest. Building in this place meant bringing new ife to a site left unused for over twenty years, shaped alongside a collective of four local farmers responsible for maintaining the landscape.
This project took place during a three-week journey across Europe, with ten days fully dedicated to the construction of a 24 m² fireplace shelter (6 × 4 m). Built using 90% reclaimed materials, it reactivates resources found in the site’s barn and combines them with elements gathered directly from the surrounding environment. Guided by experimentation and autonomy, the experience offered a different way of discovering the territory, its resources, and the knowledge required to transform them. Learning by building, building by learning, this was the essence of this first Norwegian adventure.
