Casa VA
Ongoing research into new housing typologies finds in Casa VA a laboratory for experimenting with bold strategies. This house, characterized by its unusual geometry and small size, is based on an approach that explores dialogue between opposites. This confrontation of ideas, both theoretical and aesthetic, guides the proposal to the culmination of an atypical typology.
The main desire of the project is to optimize the surface area in order to create a flexible, multifunctional space. To achieve this, the qualities of a space that, although limited in size, has a clear connection with the outside are enhanced. The six large openings on three sides of the house flood the interior with light and offer a versatile playing field.
This starting point allows us to work on the idea of an open space that defines different areas by creating separate levels. The construction of this system of heights helps to develop a domestic landscape where each element arises from the architecture itself. The granite plinths act as supports and await the arrival of various design pieces: sofa, bed, kitchen, wardrobe... These volumes colonize the space and give character to a uniform environment where each element is perfectly integrated into the space.
This conception of the home as infrastructure leads to the creation of a neutral yet expressive container. The few select materials used offer a mix between metallic surfaces, natural stone baseboards, and warm wood floors, resulting in an elegant and sophisticated environment.
The homogeneity of this general atmosphere is interrupted by the inclusion of design pieces conceived in different formats, mainly furniture, lighting, and art. The role of these elements is crucial, as their color creates an interesting dialogue with the surrounding environment. It is art, presented in different styles and understood as a changing order that activates the space and ultimately shapes the identity of this unique home.
