REHANG ARCHIVES
Rehang, the reinstallation of several rooms in Collezione Maramotti’s permanent exhibition, provides the opportunity to present a temporary exhibition on the ground floor, featuring documents, books, artworks, and objects preserved in the Collection’s Archives and Art Library—lively spaces of research and knowledge.
In its varied and intentionally non-exhaustive progression, the exhibition brings these materials into dialogue with selected works from the permanent collection, conveying the vitality of the artistic creation process and the porous connections between different nuclei within the Collection. From the wealth of bibliographic and archival documentation, a number of stimulating examples have been selected—not with philological or critical intent, but to offer a broader, more layered reading of the works. Artist’s books, catalogues, letters, sketches, photographs, videos, and other materials become fragments of a story linked to artistic creation.
The exhibition features projects by ten artists: Claudio Parmiggiani, Peter Halley, Barry X Ball, Giulio Paolini, Vito Acconci, Jason Dodge, Enzo Cucchi, Evgeny Antufiev, Gert & Uwe Tobias, and Krištof Kintera.
The project gathers, organizes, and arranges the diverse materials brought out of the archives, presenting them in a unified installation that continuously unfolds in new and different ways. The alternating principles of joining, combining, and distinguishing guide the arrangement of the vertical and horizontal display cases—open and closed, tall and low—that weave through the four exhibition rooms like a common thread tying the project together.
