AMONTI CHALETS
Situated in the scenic Ahrntal valley, the Amonti Chalets reinterpret the traditional alpine chalet through a modern, sustainable lens. The project consists of 23 individual aparment units and a central main building, laid out like a historic alpine hamlet, following the natural contour lines of the terrain. This site-specific approach enabled the complete avoidance of retaining walls, allowing the architecture to blend gently into the landscape. Design and spatial organization are guided by the principle of contextual integration. Volumetric articulation, low rise typologies, and the clustering of units echo the scale and rhythm of rural settlements. The architectural language balances rustic charm with contemporary precision. The timber façadep lays a central role in both structure, providing a tactile, warm material palette that connects the buildings to the surrounding forests. Panoramic glazing and continuous wooden verandas open the interiors to the landscape while offering privacy and shade. Traditional alpine ornamentation has been abstracted and reintroduced as subtle façade detailing, reinforcing regional identity without resorting to pastiche.
The main building includes reception, bar, restaurant, professional kitchen, and underground parking. Construction took place from February 2024 to May 2025, with a consistent focus on energy efficiency and environmentally conscious building techniques. A separate three-story wellness house expands the offering with a 25-meter indoor-outdoor pool, Finnish sauna, herbal steam bath, and serene relaxation spaces—all designed to maximize views and natural light. Two massage rooms complete the wellness facilities. An integrated farmhouse complex—comprising a chalet, two holiday apartments, a private residence, a utility building, and a biomass heating system—anchors the site in its agricultural past and supports a decentralized energy concept. The project is crowned by Gourmet Restaurant Johanns, curated by award-winning chef Tina Marcelli. High-end regional cuisine is served in the restaurant or in the privacy of the chalets. Amonti Chalets embody a holistic architectural vision: rooted in tradition, crafted with sustainable materials.
