JULES VERNE SCHOOL
The project is located on the former site of the “Cité de l’Aurore,” where five residential towers once stood. As a major public facility within a dense suburban fabric, it initiates a coherent new urban sequence, anticipating future housing development to the south. The building stretches along the site, with its gable facing the street, shaping the entrance forecourt as a strong, identifiable civic space. Its northeast–southwest orientation optimizes natural light and allows classrooms to open generously onto the landscaped courtyards. Walkways and overhangs extend interior spaces outward, provide effective solar protection, and ease movement through exterior circulation paths.
Compact and legible, the project offers a clear internal organization. Combining concrete, timber structure, bio-based insulation, and larch cladding, it embodies a rational, sustainable, and elegant design approach.
