Mairie de Bournezeau
This project involves the substantial renovation of a well-preserved existing building located at the center of the site, along with the creation of two lateral extensions that allow for both a comprehensive reorganization of the existing town hall and an increase in its floor area.
Our design seeks to reinterpret the existing urban fabric in dialogue with the varied rooflines and building scales around the town hall square, within the protected heritage perimeter of the historic center.
The construction approach combines low-carbon concrete, timber-frame façades, timber structure and exterior joinery, together with several materials drawn from the local context : clay roof tiles and bio-based insulation sourced from nearby supply chains.
The reorganized town hall now features a new front plaza, a council and wedding hall opening onto a landscaped courtyard at the heart of the block, as well as new offices and workspaces.
