Casa of Cayambe
Located on the outskirts of Tabacundo, Ecuador, this single-family house opens fully towards the northeast face of the Cayambe volcano. The design is organized in three levels connected by interior voids, allowing all spaces to share the same relationship with the landscape. A mixed pine wood structure—combining framing and laminated timber portals—supports a large glass façade, while lateral enclosures are resolved with dry construction systems and clad in clay shingles, echoing both regulation and local tradition.
The program is divided into two independent volumes joined by a service block, offering flexibility of use: as a weekend retreat for a young family today, and as a long-term home for retirement in the future.
