CASA ROJA
A good project should always be one with the user, to develop the architectural program, we start from understanding the client, understanding their needs, preferences and interests. Casa Roja is a project designed for a man who shares residence alternating between his home (El Grullo) and abroad, where he develops professionally. That is why we thought of a place where just “being” is a real pleasure after a long season of work away from your loved ones, a place equipped with living spaces in such a way that even stepping on the stairs you feel like stopping and chatting.
The project was built on an irregular corner lot. To reduce the irregularity, the concept was divided into two blocks. The focus of the first one is sharing, the first floor contains the living room, the kitchen and the dining room, all in a fluid space where the limits are blurred, inviting the integration of the inhabitants. One hundred % of the upper floor is a terrace, with this you will never have to limit the number of guests. There we take advantage of the privileged view of the Chiautempan Park and one of the best bastions of the region, its season changing hills offering different emotions as time goes by.
The second block, the private habitat, where 3 bedrooms are located, with 3 bathrooms, two of them private and a master bedroom where again we take advantage of the exceptional urban and natural view. To keep the intimacy of the space, the whole of the lower part is enclosed by a solid strip that gives the feeling of isolation in relation to the exterior, as soon as we cross we are welcomed by an imposing garden that embraces the entire building block, there the street starts to dematerialize, we enter into a sort of limbo, that is just the prelude to entering the habitat, from this point we contemplate its monolithic facades dressed in an inked mortar that over time forms a patina, that gives character to the construction. Between the two large monoliths, a completely open funneled corridor leads to a distribution corridor that surrounds us in a sense of lightness and transparency, making a clear contrast with the building blocks that reflect robustness, protection and intimacy. Everything is intensified by a strong red on the outside that turns into a murky white on the inside, achieving, together with the shapes and textures, a harmonious conversation between inside and outside, inviting us to emotional and architectural introspection. Right there, fused with the stairs, a bridge allows us to create ethereal distances that can be bridged in just two steps. In this work an honest, refined and emotional architectural language is achieved, making the return home a delicacy to be savored.
