Multipurpose court in Mussolente
Project for a multipurpose field at the “T. EgerEger” primary school in Mussole.
Intervention has a dual objective: to upgrade an old paved area by creating a new organized play area, and to reorganize the system of pedestrian paths connecting the new recreational-sport areas and the primary school, with the removal of architectural barriers.
The area occupied by the existing paved area is transformed into a basketball court at scale and a play area, with the installation of thermoplastic ground games that create paths usable for outdoor lessons. The orientation of the play area makes full use of the existing paved surface.
The new tobacco color cement-smoothed paved path, replaces the existing one and creates the new level connection with the play areas, aiming to make the different zones usable by all students of the school campus in an independent manner.
The colors palette distinguish movement flows: tobacco/earth color is intended for general movement within the school courtyard, while the play area combines different tonalities to evoke the dynamism that characterizes it.
The insertion of the new elements has been studied to preserve the existing valuable features, such as the large perimeter cedars of the school courtyard, which provide shade during the warmer activity periods, also for the perimeter areas treated with loose gravel and grass.
