75 Logements ZAC Mellinet
In Nantes, the project is set within a site undergoing major transformation: between the preserved buildings of the former Mellinet barracks and the future development of the ZAC. Its role is clear : to ensure a coherent transition between these fragments of the city, while enhancing the central park as a structuring element of the site.
The design is guided by three strong intentions:
+To anchor the project in its context by extending the existing parcel-based and orthogonal grids,
+To shape volumes that gradually rise, creating a dialogue with the surrounding building heights,
+To foster a refined relationship with public space by multiplying visual openings, access points, and everyday uses.
To the east, a ground-floor nursery naturally extends the nearby Alice Guy school. Together, they form a clear, accessible facility, open onto a shared forecourt designed as a neighborhood gathering space.
Along the main streets, the project builds a clear and inhabited urban frontage, while opening up a large, landscaped inner courtyard. This green heart becomes a buffer zone, a breathing space that links the housing to the park.
The dwellings are designed to offer real quality of use: all are either dual-aspect or well-oriented, with large floor-to-ceiling windows and deep, private loggias. Each unit frames unobstructed views toward the park, the former infirmary garden, or the wide southern landscape.
By combining controlled density, spatial clarity, and careful attention to quality of life, the project actively contributes to building an open, livable urban neighborhood.
