ABOVE THE LAKE
Located in Lozorno, this weekend house addresses the client's request for a discreet dwelling atop a hill, offering exceptional views of the reservoir and surrounding landscape. The panoramic vista dictated the building's placement, volumetric composition, and orientation. Positioned at the highest point of the plot, the structure is set back from the adjacent roadway to enhance visual connectivity with the environment. Embedding half of the building's mass into the terrain reduces its visual prominence, ensuring harmonious integration with the natural topography. The layout comprises four living spaces and ancillary areas, organized into two contrasting volumes: the daytime zones are housed within a tall, archetypal form featuring a gabled roof, while the sleeping quarters occupy a low-lying volume nestled into the landscape. The intersection of these volumes along orthogonal axes ensures that each room is strategically oriented to capture specific vistas, enhancing the visual connection with the surrounding landscape. In conjunction with retaining walls, this configuration provides privacy for outdoor areas from neighbouring plots.
