ES3 is a 48-unit housing development located in Rennes, France, within the Courrouze urban renewal project led by Paola Viganò and Bernardo Secchi. Designed by Lemoal architectes (co-designers and landscape architects) alongside 2PM (lead architects), the project is organized around a central garden kept entirely in full soil. Its compact and fragmented volumetry creates a rich urban silhouette, allowing for generous breathing spaces and framed views towards the landscape.
All apartments are either dual-oriented or through-units and benefit from large loggias, ensuring high-quality natural light and cross-ventilation. A strong emphasis was placed on the design of shared spaces—such as the halls, bicycle rooms, and mail areas—which act as social thresholds at a domestic scale. The red-pink pigmented concrete façade reveals its aggregate through sandblasted textures at the base, grounding the project in its context. Delivery is scheduled for February 2025.
