El Gouna
El Gouna is a modern seaside resort on the Red Sea, located 25 km north of Hurghada, Egypt. This popular destination attracts an international clientele with its hotels and private villas offering breathtaking views of the sea, the majestic desert hills, and picturesque man-made lagoons. The resort is renowned for its unique architecture, which blends Mediterranean and Nubian styles to create an atmosphere that feels both contemporary and vernacular.
The project embodies this blend of tradition and modernity: local materials, shaped by skilled craftsmanship, such as granite and wood, are combined with a sleek, clean-lined design that conveys a timeless architectural language.
El Gouna enjoys a warm, sunny climate year-round. As a village committed to environmental responsibility, it places strong emphasis on ecology and sustainability, with initiatives designed to preserve the region’s natural habitat. In keeping with this ethos, the vegetation in the project has been carefully selected to harmonise with the surroundings.
It features species well adapted to desert conditions, such as palm trees and agaves. These heat-tolerant plants create a vivid, year-round landscape that blurs the line between ecological sensitivity and luxury.
Considered as the final touch to the project, the large swimming pool, reminiscent of a desert oasis, is made with the same surface material as the terrace. Borderless, it stretches out like a mirage, cooling the air as it mirrors the light, the blue sky, and the surrounding vegetation on its shimmering surface.
