extension and restructuring of a triplex flat
The transformation of a duplex flat on the 7th and 8th floors of a 1970s Parisian building was undertaken to create a modern and elegant space inspired by minimalist architecture. The project involved extending the 7th-floor terrace to enlarge the kitchen and create a dining room, creating an aedicula to link the flat directly to the roof terrace, as well as reworking the façades and enlarging the windows.
All the partitions were knocked down to expose the building's concrete structure, then replaced by technical partitions clad in natural anodised aluminium. These partitions integrate various functions such as storage, a fold-down bed, air conditioning and sanitary facilities, maximising the space available. The result is an uncluttered, functional space, while preserving privacy where necessary.
Japanese architecture also influenced the project. A set of platforms is used to mark out the different areas of the flat and allow easy circulation. The platforms also provide level access to the terraces, offering uninterrupted views over Paris.
