The renovation project is situated within a very modest building, located in the historic urban fabric of the district. The apartment, part of a courtyard complex, adjoins a small church on its northeast side. As a result, the main windowed façade faces southwest.
The design arranges the service areas in a central core, set against the long blank wall, leaving the windowed side completely unobstructed. The spaces have been vertically expanded through the demolition of the attic floor slab, allowing for the creation of a small mezzanine above the kitchen and bathroom. The new wooden roof structure, left exposed, adds rhythm and warmth to the space.
The result is a varied and continuous space, with visual connections between the different rooms, enhanced by the brightness of the house.
