TERRACE
Located in the town of La Terrasse, close from the metropolitan area of Grenoble, the project fits into a context of mixed individual houses and agriculture.
The clients live in a house situated at the base of a hill and encircled by a spectacular view of the mountains. They aim to replace their damaged terrace with a new contemporary intervention enhancing the surrounding view and creating a cohesive project with the existing house.
The terrace project rest on the idea of creating a seamless view on the montain on the first floor of an existing house. The projet create two disctint spaces. A pedestal and its covered terrace provide access to the ground floor, and an open terrace on the first floor. both floor are connected by an exterior steel stair.
The terrace is designed to open up the view from the first floor of the house and avoid large guardrails at eye level by using the ha-ha wall concept.
The concrete usage helps blend with the mineral base of the existing house. It creates a dialogue between the ground floor and the wooden superior floor. To counterbalance the monumental nature of the terrace, green spaces have been reserved on the concrete.
Guardrail has been carefully drawn and implemented in some parts of the terrace to provide the necessary security while enhancing the light floating aspect of the terrace.
