Capital Reform
From 21 April to 20 June, the Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de Madrid is hosting the exhibition Capital Reform. Designed and curated by Alejandro Caraballo, Carlos Rebolo (crac | taller de arquitectura), Nicolás Martín and Carlos Mombiela, Capital Reform shows the work of a generation of Madrid architects who have made a virtue out of necessity and who, through the optimization of reduced surfaces, the updating of conventional domestic typologies and material and aesthetic experimentation, are reconfiguring the spaces of everyday life.
The exhibition brings together a selection of images taken by renowned photographers with whom the studios collaborate on a regular basis and which have had a high impact in different media. These photographs are in dialogue with others taken spontaneously during the construction process and with an extensive communal table on which all the selected architects have placed the fundamental elements of their creative process.
For the young architects selected, the domestic scale represents a great opportunity for the discipline to respond to the collective aspiration to improve housing conditions through everyday life and close contact with the user.
