Nowadays, Caldes de Montbui still has in operation two of the six washhouse of thermal water, La Canaleta and La Portalera.
Concerning the Portalera washhouse, the intervention on the existing wall, as well as the roofing solution, opened up the street to distant views from the Caldes stream and the washhouse itself. The light roof, staggered in different pieces which adapts to the irregular shape of the complex, responds to the principles of the traditional roof trusses while allowing light entrance and the escape of the vapours produced by the hot water. Despite the existing slopes, the opening of a new access has made it possible to open the facilities to people with reduced mobility who were previously unable to access them.
