Nembro Sports Hall
The project of the “New Sports Hall” has been carried out by demolishing the old school gym, which no longer fulfilled the required energy or quality needs, to make way for a modern and functional building. This new structure has been designed in accordance with the current CONI regulations for sports facilities, ensuring that it can host activities from various sports associations operating in the area. With a capacity of 400 seated places, the new sports hall will be equipped for sporting events across different disciplines.
The “New Sports Hall” consists of two volumes: the main body, which has a height of 11.80 meters and contains the entrance, a stairwell, and an elevator, and a lower part that will be used for the athletes’ changing rooms. The area designated for sports activities will guarantee adequate dimensions for basketball and volleyball events, with a minimum internal height of 8 meters to facilitate competitive activities. The ability to divide the space into two distinct courts will be an additional advantage for the local community, allowing multiple events to take place simultaneously. The seating areas have been designed to accommodate the public and are separated from the playing area.
The intervention site is located in a semi-peripheral area of the town, in close proximity to the municipal cemetery, and is well connected to green spaces and existing sports facilities, such as the Saletti sports center and the tennis club. There is known parking availability nearby that will serve the new sports hall, and the intervention area includes the footprint of the existing gym and an adjacent green space, currently also used for beach volleyball. One of the main objectives of the project was to create a multi-functional sports facility that can serve both students during school hours and sports associations during extracurricular hours. The new sports hall is designed to address the energy deficiencies of the
current gym by providing thermal insulation and modern systems. The design choices include various functionalities: sports services for schools, spaces for basketball and volleyball competitions, attention to aesthetics and functionality,
and analysis of energy performance.
