Studio L
Studio L is a mixed-use building located in a quiet Bangkok neighborhood, housing a pharmaceutical company on the ground floor and an interior design studio on the upper levels. Owned by the same family, the studio occasionally serves as a living space—two generations working, living, and coexisting under one roof. The main objective was to create a simple, open platform that accommodates both formal and informal uses. Though differing in function, all the spaces are connected by a common structure.
The layout is clearly organized, with enclosed private areas such as offices, a bedroom, bathrooms, and storage one side, and open, free-flowing spaces on the other. At the building's center, a stair and bridge cut through the volume, connecting floors both vertically and horizontally, introducing movement and visual continuity. The kitchen and dining space on the top level connects to a spacious balcony, a potential space for a garden overlooking the city. Windows on all sides allow for natural ventilation, while a central toplight brings in shifting daylight patterns throughout the day, creating a sense of the outdoors within the interior.
The building was not shaped by a predetermined form, but rather by context—construction methods, site boundaries, and a restricted buildable area. The result is neither a house nor an office, but a generous volume for evolving connections and uses.
