CASA MP
A recently constructed building in the dynamic NoLo neighborhood houses a small apartment where the original compressed and fragmented plan did not allow for efficient use of space.
We decided to completely redesign the internal distribution, creating a unique fluid and bright environment. The apartment enjoys a corner view that allows natural light to enter during most of the day.
The spaces are developed from a large living area. Two full-height custom-made doors in natural oak, hide on one side a service compartment and on the other the entrance to the bedroom. The bathroom is located inside the sleeping area, separated by a sliding door in iron and ribbed glass.
The entire project is based on the concept of continuity of spaces, designed to amplify the perception of environments and multiply perspectives: the kitchen in dark-stained ribbed oak, while remaining open on the living room, is contained in a niche not visible from the entrance, while the bed hides behind the volume of the walk-in closet, promoting a sense of spatial continuity.
Together with the client, we decided to transform this home into a neutral "box" capable of transmitting calm and serenity in which on the light shades applied on vertical and horizontal surfaces single elements with bright tones in shades of red
stand out.
Similarly, seventies furnishings in chromed metal, a large sofa in olive green velvet and some dark wood furnishings emerge against a warm and delicate background.
The original wooden floor was treated with a thin layer of resin that allows the grain to emerge, giving the room a modern character. Finally, the bathroom is covered with large terrazzo slabs used both for the floor and for the shower covering.
To complete the whole, a custom-made wooden bathroom cabinet with integrated sink, also made entirely made of terrazzo.
