AFUEGO
AFUEGO is situated in the heart of Seville, close to the cathedral, in Álvarez
Quintero Street. The restaurant is located in the courtyard of a 17th-century palace home that was once part of the Peyre department store in the late 19th century, designed by the renowned Sevillian architect Aníbal González.
Beginning as an exercise of unveiling, the project's goal was to discover the different overlapping layers and to recover the lost traces of the initial building. From there new elements were established, in a sort of architectural palimpsest, where past and present meet.
The grill kitchen is visible from the large dining space, organized by the layout of the custom-made furniture by Kresta Desgin. The lighting subtly highlights the hierarchy of the space by combining classic lamps with bespoke designs.
From a material perspective, hydraulic tiles on floors and glazed ceramic tiles on walls coexist with wooden ceilings and plaster coated walls, defining a palette that dialogues with the original elements of the house.
The result is a warm, serene and luminous atmosphere that highlights the
marble columns, cast iron pillars and skylight in the space.
