22 Social Housing Units
This social housing block aims to consolidate a city corner while providing a high-quality living experience for its residents. The building mediates the intersection between a newly designed avenue and a street of low-rise buildings, reinforcing the transition between them through a composition of two volumes connected by a curvilinear geometry. The ensemble, with a neutral appearance, blends into its surroundings while revealing the uniqueness of its interior: open and fluid communal spaces that organically connect to a tree-lined garden. Around this central green space, the 22 dwellings are arranged, accessed through open-air walkways.
Based on a modular concept, the homes are open and filled with natural light thanks to their dual orientation, with the kitchen at the heart of domestic life. They promote a Mediterranean way of living, where light and the indoor-outdoor relationship can be adjusted through traditional elements like persianas alicantinas on the street-facing façade and more contemporary solutions such as micro-perforated membranes on the garden façade, creating dynamic atmospheres throughout the day.
Beyond fostering a communal lifestyle through its typological approach, the project stands out for its high level of prefabrication. This is achieved through the innovative use of a prestressed concrete structural system with 12-meter spans, which not only brings the advantages of prefabrication in execution but also ensures great flexibility in layout design.
