Located on the top floor of an 1860s building, this apartment offers bright views of the ancient village of Rodi and the Adriatic Sea. The renovation, completed in 2024, involved a focused and synthetic intervention, with the aim of enhancing the existing and integrating contemporary elements.
Natural materials were used for the work, particularly Apricena stone, extracted from local quarries and used for floors, walls and accessories. The choice of local materials made it possible to maintain a close link with the area, while local craftsmen and workers contributed their experience and knowledge to complete a complex job that lasted almost two years.
The apartment has been completely reconfigured and features two bedrooms separated by the living area, which is the compositional centerpiece of the project. This area consists of a large dining room with a kitchen and a living room, connected by two wide doorways and a bifacial fireplace, which serves as a connecting element between the rooms, increasing the permeability.
A distinctive aspect of the renovation was the decision to unearth portions of the old stone masonry, bearing witness to local building techniques. The furnishings were custom made, flanked by original elements that have been preserved and restored, such as the doors, decorative frames and the wooden ceiling of the dining room.
The project reflects the client's need to experience a place that fosters a peaceful condition in a setting to which they are sentimentally attached, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. This apartment represents not only a summer holidays destination, but also an ideal place to find inspiration for work and writing.
