HOUSE IN BIALLET
The house is located in Bialet Massé, at the same site where, years earlier, we constructed the Quincho. The project is situated in the Sierras of Córdoba, very close to Lake San Roque.
The central space is left open to serve as areas for lounging and relaxation, while the periphery of the building houses the bathrooms and kitchen, which open into four small courtyards.
The front façade (if it can be called that) has the capacity to open fully or close entirely through the use of a reflective metal gate. The gate acts as a wall that disappears. It physically folds to “vanish,” but even when deployed, it reflects the surrounding landscape and duplicates it, creating a form of distorted disappearance.
The brick used in the walls is also used for the flooring. The slab was constructed with prefabricated concrete beams. The entire house is enveloped by this brick wall, which contains the program but also dematerializes and perforates through the courtyards. The walls, their material condition, their composition in plan, and their function were crucial in the discussions and design of this project.
