Home-studio with a garden
The 150 sqm apartment is located in the Balduina neighborhood of Rome, an area defined by mid-century residential buildings and a tranquil urban atmosphere. The original 1960s layout, characterized by a corridor and a series of separate rooms, has been completely reimagined into a dynamic, open, and light-filled space.
The design prioritizes openness and functionality.
The living area has been completely reconfigured by integrating the existing corridor, eliminating unnecessary partitions, and creating a seamless flow between spaces. Circulation has been minimized to its essentials, resulting in a layout that fosters continuity and openness throughout the apartment.
The exposed concrete structure of the apartment has been retained and left raw,
becoming a central feature of the design. This decision highlights the material’s inherent texture and strength, introducing a bold industrial character that contrasts with a curated selection of warm, bright finishes and materials.
The apartment’s connection to its surroundings has been enhanced through its
relationship with the outdoor space. A private garden, designed with alternating green and paved islands, serves as an extension of the living area, blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor living.
