A rooftop garden in Paris
Vertical extension of a dwelling in the heart of a block in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, with the transformation of a roof terrace into a shared garden.
The wooden structure is placed on an industrial concrete construction.
The wooden frame and framework were manufactured on site, because the accommodation is located on the courtyard, with no possible access to deliver prefabricated elements.
Summer thermal comfort is an essential point for this project, since the main living space, located in the attic, is completely glazed to the south.
The facades and the roof are insulated with shuttered hemp concrete, which is left visible inside.
This insulation provides the thermal inertia, hygrometric regulation and phase shift necessary to regulate the interior temperature.
Manual wooden exterior blinds provide protection from direct sun during the summer.
