SM MEDICAL CENTER
The project for the Medical Center has been developed by integrating patient well-being with the functionality required by a healthcare space, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Curved shapes, light wood, translucent glass, and pops of colour are used to humanize the space.
Visitors are welcomed by a spacious reception area connected to the waiting zone, bathed in natural light from a large window overlooking a gardened plaza and which is completed by the work of Jordi Alcaraz. From there, a central corridor defined by curved glass and wood panels leads to the consultation, care areas, and concludes with the private zone dedicated to staff and their training. The design encourages a smooth circulation flow for both patients and medical staff. Each space has been designed to optimize its use, ensuring that every detail contributes to a positive clinical experience.
In the waiting areas, clean-lined furniture and natural materials are paired with pops of colour, both on the ceiling, which unifies the diverse programmatic functions, and in various elements and surfaces that add dynamism.
Due to the limited natural light in the original space, artificial lighting has been a key element in the design, carefully planned to create a bright and pleasant environment. The use of translucent glass in the interior partitions allows for the soft diffusion of light. This strategy maintains a sense of privacy while adding lightness to the space, both of which are essential in a medical environment.
Overall, the clinic promotes a modern approach to healthcare, where functionality and thoughtful aesthetic provide patients with an environment that attends to every detail, ensuring they always feel they are in good hands.
