1930’s House
The semi-detached house, originally built in the 1930s, is located in a quiet neighborhood of Zürich. It was first renovated in the early 1980s by an architect couple, who introduced the characteristic white floor tiles typical of that period. Ductus undertook a comprehensive renovation, addressing the heating system, windows, bathrooms, surfaces, and fireplace, while maintaining the key features of both the 1930s architecture and the well-executed 1980s renovation. The renovation blends historical and modern design elements. Pink Perlino marble is used in the bathroom, introducing a warm tone and a clear geometric structure. The rounded corners of the furniture and corner mirrors reference the architectural style of the 1930s. The white floor tiles have been largely preserved and supplemented only where necessary. In the transitional spaces and staircases, these tiles create visual continuity while retaining the historic character of the house.
