Mobility Center
A low-carbon “structural architecture”
A figurehead of the Eco river district, the mobility center is a project that is part of the time in this area. In time, it articulates the short and long term: short term because deadlines are reduced and interdependent with the rest of the neighborhood, and long term because, although mobility is undergoing transformation, it requires a strong capacity for adaptation. The ambition of reversibility and scalability, as well as the low-carbon approach, therefore guided our design. But the project is also, obviously, in space, in a very particular site. However, this former logistics site is very exposed: rather than a black box without roughness, the mobility center is an element that addresses all its facades, river and plant, urban as well as metropolitan, and which develops a dual language: to be a signal, because it is a shared equipment, and at the same time to have the capacity to be a background which stages the exceptional landscape of Île-Saint-Denis and the Seine. It is this dialectic that underlies the project, generating a sober and light form, while being recognizable.
