Casa SB
The search for large and open spaces, the commitment to flexibility in the distribution of the program and the desire to design a relaxed atmosphere and a clean style are some of the characteristics that define this project. The main strategy focuses on differentiating the nighttime uses from the daytime uses. The more private programs are moved to the interior of the floor in order to bring the public programs closer to the street. In this way, we optimize the space to achieve a clean and perfect square that seems to be stripped of any physical limits.
This blank canvas becomes the nerve center of the house. A space used in a flexible way whose function is to host the two most characteristic elements of the house: the imposing steel kitchen island and the large sofa. Both pieces hierarchize the space, but, at the same time, maintain sufficient autonomy so that the rest of the room can be lived in a spontaneous way. In addition, thanks to their monumentality, they act as traffic circle pieces and propose a fluid circulation around them. The aim is to imagine a space for meeting and recreation that can receive large groups of friends.
In relation to the choice of materials, noble solutions are used, but always treated from a conceptual perspective. Once again, we sought a reduced palette in order to give each material the prominence it deserves. Thus, the container is conceived in a sober way. The walls are covered with fine mortar while the ceiling is acoustically sprayed. The floor is covered with solid pine slats, a daring solution that dresses up the entire house. The striking touches are provided by two very characteristic materials: Indian green marble floods the bathrooms and adds
expressiveness. While stainless steel is used to design singular pieces such as the island or the kitchen fronts.
