Jardin Maritime
In two parallel streets close to Tour en Taxis, obsolete buildings are demolished that give onto the same built-up inner area. Two residential volumes will stand back to back on the vacant space. One building completes the row of houses in Van Meyelstraat, the other has its address in Le Lorrainstraat. In between, a collective green urban garden will be created for the 21 apartments. A wide, storey-high passageway in both buildings brings air into the streets, provides a view through to this greenery and a view from street to street.
The white colour tones used gives a clear visual tie to the whole project and a refreshing accent in the streetscape. This colour is fully continued in the exterior. In terms of height, the four-storey buildings blend in with the existing context.
The multi-family houses are built entirely of a solid wooden CLT structure that is left visible in the ceilings of the houses. Insulation is provided with mineral wool and a collective air-conditioning system based on geothermal energy has been chosen. Energy is generated via solar panels. This BEN project resolutely opts for a thorough ecological approach.
