Hortus Conclusus
PREMIO ARCHITETTO ITALIANO 2025. Special mention
In the most secluded part of the Don Bosco Salesian center in Mestre, an unused garden has been transformed into an active space for outdoor learning. The redevelopment project stems from and strengthens the spontaneous practices initiated by students during the pandemic.
A metal and glass pavilion, the installation of wooden platforms and seating in shaded areas, pathways made of permeable recycled materials, the pruning of existing trees, new flower beds, and an integrated lighting system give shape to the formerly empty space, returning it as a livable, flexible, and shared environment. Vegetation encroaches on the asphalt perimeter, connecting the garden to the school’s arcades.
