Art gallery
The new exhibition space transforms an unused production area and adapts it to the new museum requirements. Designed to house a private collection of contemporary art, the intervention significantly alters the spatial relationships of the existing building. A new staircase connects the exhibition areas, while a new entrance, emphasized by a triple- height canopy, renders the new museum independent from the rest of the building.
On the ground floor, apart from the exhibition spaces, reception areas and a darkroom dedicated to video art have been created. The upper floor is entirely devoted to showcasing the collection. In the renovation of the existing structure, the project highlights the contrast between the typical space of the exhibition gallery, the 'neutral cube,' and the original language of the building with its main characteristic elements. The reinforced concrete structure is fully exposed with its geometry and material, while the transparency of the facades is mediated by filters positioned behind the exhibition panels, allowing natural light to integrate
with artificial light.
The space hosts photographs and paintings, sculptures and installations, videos, light works, and site-specific pieces.
